Doc 47. Not to do in mental health
This semFYC document with recommendations of "What not to do" in Mental Health educates us in wellbeing through patience, healing through thoughtful and slow companionship, and reasoned non-intervention. No one taught us such a thing. Long term is not in. Hyperactivity is this century's evil and it does not only spread in the health sector: it started being lucrative in supermarkets and it spread like a cancer to schools, parks, hospices, and tourist attractions. Nowadays, it's something so essential that it's hard to escape even in private spaces, in family gatherings and in our internal dialogue. But, as John Berger said in A Fortunate Man, a doctor who has surpassed the stage of selling cures, either directly to the patient or through the agency of a state service, is unassessable.
